Recently I finished recording "You Know Me Al" by Ring Lardner, and while I am not a graphic designer, I am an artist with some illustration experience (many moons ago I worked for DC comics as a color separator), so I figured why not come up with a CD cover for Al.
My idea is to use an old baseball card (a 1933 Fat Freddie Fitzsimmons card) and alter it using some simple drawing tools in Photoshop to make the pitcher look dumber and fatter, like Jack Keefe, the pitcher in You Know Me Al. Kind of half appropriation, half illustration.
My question is, is this okay to use a card from 1933, even if one is going to change it to the point of near-unrecognizability?
Here is the card in question BTW.

Hi Nathan,
thank you for the covers. I especially like the last one.
I will add them to the catalog tomorrow, if nobody is faster. (Busy day today.) _________________

I have added them to the first volume of each book. |
Thanks Hok - I added them to the other Faerie Queene books - I can copy and paste (not much else though)- Godsend's chapters are in the later books so I thought he deserved to have them . The do look good. Thanks for setting them all up
