Re: [SOLO] Exit Betty by Grace Livingston Hill - kiki

Hi Campbell, I fixed the errors on the last recording. I am super sorry that I have really slowed down on things. With my boys doing school from home these days, it seems almost impossible to find quiet time one the computer! Thank you so much for your patience. I hope you are feeling much better!!...

Re: Annoying words

'Often' gets me every time! Don't quite know what to do with the t. Can’t believe no-one’s posted this G&S dialogue extract yet... General. (aside) Hah! an idea! (aloud) And do you mean to say that you would deliberately rob me of these, the sole remaining props of my old age, and leave me to go th...

Re: 1 minute test

Hello, I am trying to send it again. Thanks for reviewing. https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test_johnnyblessed.mp3 Joao Aguiar a.k.a. Johnny Blessed Nice work! Please note that your volume is at 92.1 dbs when we need it at 86-92. Since this is so close, I can let it go. Maybe next time turn down ...

Re: [SOLO] Exit Betty by Grace Livingston Hill - kiki

I got through it and it sounds wonderful (as normal). Here are a few notes:

17:25 – loud phrase

17:39 – volume jump

‘End of Chapter 14’ sounds loud to me

Can't wait for more!

Re: [SOLO] Exit Betty by Grace Livingston Hill - kiki

Yay! Heads up, I may take a little while to get to it. I have run into health issues. Let me know if this will be a problem.

Re: Re:

I've read that it's only "ok" if you say 'Macbeth' when talking about Shakespeare's play, so the character or the play's name would both be fine. Otherwise it's referred to as the "m word" tbh it's just keeping with tradition, like the phrase "break a leg." I do theatre, and I only found abou...

Re: Re:

Then what do you do when you are performing it? :hmm: From my limited knowledge as a former community theater participant, I believe it was something like if you are talking about the character of Macbeth, it is ok, but if you say the name of the play it is not. I could be completely wrong though. ...

Re: FULL[PLAY] Belinda: an April Folly, by A.A. Milne - thw

I have finished PLing Act 1! Everybody did such a wonderful job, very fun to listen to. And you definitely took a lot of work upon yourself in the editing. I was not expecting to hear every single stage direction, but props to you for putting in the extra work. I have a decent amount of notes, most ...

Re: Re:

I don't understand... Mask's joke. There's a theater tradition that says Shakespeare's play Macbeth is cursed, and that you will bring down disaster on yourself (or your production of the show) if you say its name, specifically within a theatrical setting. MACbeth, MACdonalds. *grins* Then wh...

Hello Mr. Campbell, Thank you for your contribution on my test. I took a long time to discover some features and recording the second trial. Please take a look on this second version. https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test_johnnyblessed.mp3 I appreciate your comments regarding some reverberation I...

Re: 1 Minute Test

Ok thanks! This should be in mono https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test_candicetyson.mp3 Well done, it is! You can go record. A note of caution: your volume is almost too loud at 91.8 dbs (our upper limit is 92) so please don't get any louder. As it is, your test has a few instances of clipping (...

Re: 1 Minute Test

Jumping in here to say that it does not have to be a moderator who checks it. The admins are the ones who can change the title of your test to have an [ok] after it (once you have the ok obviously), but any volunteer (often who has a bit of experience and knows what to look for) can check it. I have...

Re: FULL[PLAY] Belinda: an April Folly, by A.A. Milne - thw

There it is, Campbell! :) Everybody has done such a remarkable job. I think it's a fun play, and it's coming together fantastically. We are missing one Devenish line, at 31:17. I've sent JohanSupertramp a message, and hopefully he'll see that soonish. Yay! So if I understand correctly, I can still ...
