Re: GROUP/FIC: Paul Faber, Surgeon by George MacDonald-mtf

Right now, my recording sounds like a teacher reading to his students, not one by an audiobook narrator. I need to do better before submitting. Background noise allowing, I will try again within the next few days. As PL I am always happy for people to submit a chapter and specifically request const...

Re: GROUP/FIC: Paul Faber, Surgeon by George MacDonald-mtf

Chapter one is ready for PL, Eliza! https://librivox.org/uploads/mightyfelix/paulfaber_01_macdonald_128kb.mp3 Duration 17:13 Let me know if the transition in and out of the "Dedication" feels too awkward. That's where it is in the text, except that there the title of the chapter (The Lane) comes af...

Re: ~GROUP/FIC: Paul Faber, Surgeon by George MacDonald

I could DPL if you will have me. Yes, thank you, Eliza! It looks like you already have DPL experience, but just ask if you run across any questions here. Have you read "Paul Faber" before? Or other MacDonalds? These longer novels can take quite a while to complete as collaborative recordings, but t...

Re: Bandwagons and virtue signalling

Actually I take it back; I do see a similarity now. Bandwagon = following what everyone else is doing to fit in. Virtue signaling = doing or saying something good to be praised by the group.

Re: Bandwagons and virtue signalling

I am going to offer a slightly different take on the term virtue signaling as I believe it means doing something good for the purpose of being noticed and gaining attention/accolades. Of course people who would do good deeds just to get noticed (who are literally signaling their virtue to everyone a...

Hey it’s easy to keep up with your reading when I can’t come up with any mistakes to write down. Chapter 12 PL okay, but really, stopping on a cliffhanger?

No thank you, the most adventurous thing I’ve tried is iguana, and it wasn’t bad but I’m okay with keeping it that way.

Re: Dramatic Reading (DR) Suggestions

You might consider BCing it, if you would like to try out that aspect of DRs, and then recruit an editor. This thread is a good place to ask for an editor, or maybe in the collection itself. No pressure, but I want you to know that's also an option. I was not aware, thank you so much mightyfelix! I...

Re: Dramatic Reading (DR) Suggestions

That sounds lovely! By the way, you can put it in the Dramatic scene and story collection here: https://forum.librivox.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=86596 We need some more chapters. :D I mean I totally would but my understanding is that if I suggest a chapter in there I am committing to prep scripts, B...

Re: Dramatic Reading (DR) Suggestions

Suggestion for the dramatic works collection: book 2 chapter 12 of Les Miserables where Jean Valjean steals the silver from Bishop Myriel. It is only ~1,100 words, but the preceding and/or subsequent chapters would go well with it. There is not a pre-existing dramatic reading of the book (for unders...
