Re: World's best literature 9

That's the only wrong one, judging by the first few seconds of each recording.

Re: SOLO London Labour Volume III -ans

Section 5 PL OK.

Well-spotted with the typo at 23.27: "It is even a greater torment than the horse fly." Which you read as "house fly" and I thought was a mistake until I checked the species name earlier in the paragraph.

Uncomfortable enthusiasm from Mr Mayhew there.

Re: Tannhäuser by Wagner, Richard

I'm not likely to read it, as I have another big project to finish. If it's still unread when I'm done, I might have a go.

The poem itself is only 61 pages, with just over eight pages of introduction.

Re: Tannhäuser by Wagner, Richard

Lovely verse! Close to the peaceful vale of Eisenach, In far Thuringia, towers a gloomy mount, The Horselberg, a grim and lonely pile, Long called "the hill of Venus," with its cave, - Unfathomed depths of subterranean gloom, - Where men have lost their souls in heathen love To that fair goddess of ...

Thanks, Kathrine.

Now we just sit back and wait for the applause from our admiring audience.

Re: SOLO London Labour Volume III -ans

Ha! I suppose he'd be more used to the taste of rabbit than chicken. Section 4: At 11.50 The section that I've bracketted is missing. (It looks as if you've jumped a line in the text that you're reading from.) Following "he's reading the Family Friend just now." "It’s a little work I take in for [my...

Re: [Complete] Multilingual First Chapter Collection 07 - lt

Yes, the link goes to the catalogue page for me, too, now.

I usually start my walks in Epping Forest from Loughton. An attractive little town ... houses are horrifically expensive there these days.

Re: [Complete] Multilingual First Chapter Collection 07 - lt

For me, that last link points back to the link on the first page in the thread ... and that one doesn't work. A search on "multilingual" in the catalogue work finds it, but it is marked "in progress".

Re: SOLO London Labour Volume III -ans

Perfect!

I always listen against the text, but I'll not comment on minor errors that don't alter the meaning, unless you ask for this.

Thanks, Gill.

Re: SOLO London Labour Volume III -ans

Section 2 PL okay, following standard rules. There is a missing phrase which you may want to add. It's up to you:- 11th para after the Ratting illustration. "Although the proprietor of the dog endeavoured to speak up for it, by declaring “it was a good ’un, and a very pretty performer,” At 13.06 - "...

Re: SOLO London Labour Volume III -ans

PL ok. Nearly word-perfect! Interesting subject.

There's a slight echo to your voice, Gill, but it's not intrusive.

Re: The all-new "HELP! I have an Audacity problem" thread

You could try exporting the file as a FLAC, closing Audacity, re-opening Audacity and importing from the FLAC. That worked for me, when I had problems with uncorrectably low volume a while ago.

I think that's true; we should be up and running again soon, though.
