Re: [grp/Letters] The History Of Lady Barton by Elizabeth Griffith - dlo

I came to claim Letter 9 (which shows as OPEN in the MW) but I think it actually belongs to Lady Barton, on reading it.

I'll read the Preface for you though, if you like?

Re: [Classics] Feminism in Greek Literature - thw

Dear Leni, For PL please: https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/feminismingreekliterature_01_wright_128kb.mp3 12:10. Thanks, Dave Hm. It's interesting that 9 pages of text only produced 12 minutes of final recorded speech. That means that even the 27 page chapter might only be 36 minutes, which is we...

This looks very interesting! (Also very long) Still, to read some of Napoleon's own words... I didn't know he suffered from sea-sickness!

Re: The Ethics Of Feminism (1923) by Wadia, Ardeshir Ruttonji [Sociology]

Having had a quick look at this book, I think it will struggle to find readers. The problem is that people who are interested in feminism (which was my interest in it) will probably object to most of the tone and content of the book. For example comments such as "Feminism in its earlier stages had r...

Play Editor Wanted! 6 characters in search of an author

A famous Broadway play, since made into a movie, 6 times for TV and two radio plays! The six characters interrupt the play in rehearsal, to debate with the manager/director about their characters. When the answers are unsatisfactory they decide to add in some extra scenes and rewrite the play to bet...

Re: ~[PLAY] Six Characters in Search of an Author

Thanks folks, for all your expressions of interest, but let's put a hold on this project for now until we know we will have an editor for it - that's the single biggest job, after all!

I posted in the Launch Pad - "Six Characters" has been done off a 1922 scan.
I didn't realize that. If someone else volunteers to edit it then I'm still happy to run the play, as there has been a lot of interest already.

Re: ~[PLAY] Six Characters in Search of an Author

Just double checking: you're aware this is in the catalog already (from 2011), correct? It's OK to do another version, but wanted to make sure you knew this would be version 2. :) https://librivox.org/six-characters-in-search-of-an-author-by-pirandello/ No, I didn't realize that. Hmmm, I usually pr...

~[HOLD-PLAY] Six Characters in Search of an Author

Six Characters in Search of an Author by Luigi Pirandello (1867 - 1936) . A play is in rehearsal when suddenly the characters of the play walk in and start objecting to their portrayal on stage, arguing with the actors depicting them, inserting extra scenes and otherwise disputing as to how they sh...

Re: Play Suggestions

I'd like to run "Six Characters in Search of an Author" - very interesting play with a lot of meta-analysis of characters and the play writing process!

If anyone wants to help me with editing (when it's ready) that would be fantastic, otherwise I'll advertise when it is a bit closer to completion.
