I understand that the way it works is audacity lowers the amplitudes of the frequencies in your selected noise profile wherever those amplitudes are already as low as what is in the profile. I can think of several audacity settings that can cause this. 1) Are you using the mic you think you are? On the device toolbar you can pick the microphone to use.
