Re: What’s the Big Deal?

Please note everyone, that we are still without a DPL (Dedicated Proof Listener) so until we get a gracious volunteer, you won't receive any feed back on your submitted recordings. But one will come along, I am confident of it. :D
And one just has! I’ll do it. :D

Re: 1-Minute Test (Beflamed)

Hey beflamed! Welcome to Librivox! First of all, your recording quality sounds great. Keep your microphone the way it is. There are a couple audio issues, though. Your bit rate should be 128kps, the sampling rate should be 44.1 khz, and your recording should be in mono, not stereo sound. Aa...

Nope, sounds PL OK to me! Wonderful job and fantastic British accent, too!
(BTW, Peter told me to tell you not to worry, they are on very good terms with the Indians and haven’t had problems for a while. )

Re: What’s the Big Deal?

I never quite understood the concern about the magic in Harry Potter. If a kid did take it literally and try pointing sticks at things or people and shouting Latin imperatives, they'd maybe learn some Latin, but they'd also soon notice that it didn't actually do anything. If they decided this was b...

Re: What's a Book You Wish Was in the Public Domain?

I think copyright, if it exists, should last no longer than 10 years. So that's a lot of books, haha. Oh yes! 10 would be ideal, but authors do have to make a living. It should be 50 at the most. But 96... Well, the long and short of it for me is that, no, authors should not need copyright ...

Re: What’s the Big Deal?

It's funny what JayKitty says about the Harry Potter books. A critic might say the same about Tolkien's work (or the Narnia books?) but both Tolkien and Lewis were devout Christians is my understanding. Most certainly Lewis was. Yeah, my view about this is that the Tolkien and Lewis books are diffe...
