Re: Hello everyone!!

Hello and welcome, Al!

Your next step, then, will be to complete and submit a 1-minute test to the Listeners Wanted forum. It's a sound/tech check, not an audition.

We're glad to have you - we're a friendly bunch here, so if you get stuck or have questions, just give a shout.

Re: Newbie from Germany here

Claudia, Also with background noise, you have to rely more on your ears than on the numbers in Checker. Phil and others have pointed out that Checker dB readings for background noise can be a little off, depending on how much sound it samples at the end of a recording to look for noise. So low numbe...

Re: Newbie from Germany here

Hi Claudia, You can PL a section in a project which is still looking for a DPL. Almost every BC *prefers* having a dedicated proof-listener, but until one shows up, they still have sections which need PLing in the meantime. Sometimes a project never is able to attract a DPL, and all of the sections ...

Someone else said the same thing yesterday. I really need to shake off this misleading aura of competence I seem to be giving.

Re: New here

Greetings and welcome, Bartel! If you're interested in reading, your next step should be to record and submit a 1-minute test in the Listeners Wanted Forum - there should be directions in your welcome email. It's not an audition, just a sound/tech check. Welcome aboard, and feel free to ask lots of ...

Re: [RELIGION] Sermons on Several Occasions by John Wesley -

Okay - I can do that - the text starts off with the sermon number, and I was reading it. I'm happy to leave it off. It's probably in the directions and I didn't read them carefully enough.

Re: [RELIGION] Sermons on Several Occasions by John Wesley -

Tricia, I just realized why I so firmly believed my section (#54) was section #53. If you look at the sermon text, it is identified as sermon #53. So I say section 54 and sermon 53 where appropriate, right? It's because of the preface that everything is one number off? ETA: But the preface is sectio...

Icequeen, I need the behind-the-scenes workaround so that I can access the MW as the DPL.

Sections 6 and 7 are both PL OK! Leesma, thanks for the heads-up. There was no discernable difference, I felt.

Re: Greetings from Dubai

Carol said it perfectly. Also, as soon as one weekly poem project closes, another one opens up. So if you miss recording this week's poem because of time, there will always be a chance for the next one. There is also the Fortnightly poem project, which is the same thing but open for two weeks instea...
