Re: [Poetry - English/Sanskrit] Vairagya Shatakam - law

Dear Uday, Section 2 is PL OK! Your additions to the files sound flawlessly spliced in. Nicely done! There is still one thing missing in Section 1, which I didn't catch the first time because I didn't have a Sanskrit text to follow at that time. Section 1, 7:35 - There is a line of the Sanskrit poet...

Re: ~MULTILINGUAL Christmas Short Works Collection 2012

Ruth, So I went through Christmas Carollin' and picked out six selections I'd like to read, but as you know, everything in that book is *quite* brief. Can I string them together into one recorded file? If so, how do I the intro? Something like "Selections from Christmas Carollin' by Carolyn Wells. T...

Re: ~MULTILINGUAL Christmas Short Works Collection 2012

Ruth, I am happy to do one or two, but I noticed the collection is almost all English. I suppose this collection is already advertised in the various "suggest a (insert language here) work" threads? I almost included the following in this reply: If I were Phil, I reckon I would put a dancing banana ...

Re: New from Missouri! :)

Hello and welcome, Nessa! That's a great link Chuck pointed you towards - it helped answer a lot of my early questions! And by "early," I mean "a week ago," because that's how long I've been active as a volunteer here now! It's easy to get hooked in because volunteering here is fun and engaging, but...

Re: Washington State here :)

Hello and welcome to Librivox, dollmomm! My first three days or so after I signed up for the Librivox forum, I read as much of the forum and the Librivox wiki as I could. I think doing that, even before I did a one minute test or put an introduction up, helped me get a sense of how different parts o...

Re: Senior English Major from Ohio going to school in Michig

Hello and welcome to Librivox, Lucas! I'm a recent volunteer myself and am having to reign myself in from volunteering for EVERYTHING. As you've noted, shorter pieces are better until you get used to it all and get a sense of how much work goes into polishing up a track. Hooray and good luck on your...

Re: [Poetry - English/Sanskrit] Vairagya Shatakam - law

Hi Uday, Yay! Thanks Uday. I know it's still early in this project, but judging from some of the other threads, I think you're going at a nice speed. I agree - the Sanskrit is a beautiful touch, and for those who understand or are studying Sanskrit, a vital part of the text. Now that I have a transl...

Re: What was your first LV listen?

I actually hated my first LV listen (I won't mention what it was specifically) but it was a group project, and in chapter 3 or so, the reader decided to add lots of freaky special effects and nearly inaudible reverb to a character's voice. I tried to brave through it but it gave me the utter willies...

Re: Bloopers - 2

I wonder how many other people have done this one? It was on a project with lots of sections, and I had several sections of it. I had printed out the text, but not which section it was, and I couldn't remember. I didn't have internet access where I was recording, but had a window of opportunity to ...
