kri, to explain why some projects might be abandoned, wrote:... We understand that life intervenes and is far far more important than helping us out at LibriVox. At the very least, I do, and I'm sure I'm not stepping too far to say the rest of us running around behind the scenes understand as well. All we ask for is a little notice if you've got projects that you're responsible for, and no guilt is necessary. Even if you decide that you're just not enjoying things anymore and don't really want to participate, we really won't think badly of it. It's important to have fun, enjoy yourself, and if you're no longer doing those things, let us know and we'll be glad to wish you well and find other people to take things over for you.
Sometimes a soloist or closed group will not be able to finish their project and opens that project for others to work on. When this happens, their MC will add the book to the list below, and move the project thread into storage. This thread is to advertise for either a soloist to complete the book using the existing files, or for an experienced book coordinator to convert it into a group project.

If you would like to pick up any of these projects, and use the existing chapter file/s please create a NEW THREAD in the Launch Pad, including all the regular information. You should use the solo/group template as appropriate, and post that you are adopting an abandoned project. You will need to wait for a new MC to sign up to the project, then they will be able to recreate the old Magic Window, including the links to existing files.

If you would like to read the original project thread before deciding, please post below, and any MC will be able to move it out of storage to Book Suggestions for review. You could also ask there if others are interested in helping! If you decide to go ahead with it, please create a NEW THREAD in the Launch Pad as described above.

If you decide to begin a brand new project, not using any of the old files, you do not need to post in this thread at all. Proceed to the Launch Pad and begin the new project.

Once an adopted project is underway, please check that your MC has removed the posts from this thread, just to keep things tidy.

If you cannot see the project thread, it is because it has been moved off the general forum. Post here to ask for an admin to move it back so you can see it.

Greetings. Could someone unlock Vol. 2 of Schweitzer's J.S. Bach? I'd like to take a look at what's there already before deciding whether to complete this project.

Thanks much,

jhturner

For myself, I have no problem with puns.

The truth is, I think all these requests get deleted once the request is properly answered.

If you do record the Bach, count me in as your DPL if you'd like.

I have moved it to Book Suggestions. You should be able to access it now.

I was actually one of the ones working on that project, and it became too much for me. It's a complicated venture, and will require someone with lots of experience and patience. Do please note that the MW is not yet complete. You'll need to compare it with the text to see how far I got. I don't remember offhand.

I'm interested in picking up the JS Bach book, but I can't access the thread. Is this still going?

Also, as I can't find where to post this question, and posting twice would just fill up space, are there still those short story/article projects going on? If so, where are they posted? I'm talking in particular about 'Short Science Fiction Stories'.

Thanks.

The Bach project is really complex, so not for the faint of heart. It will need somebody for the music pieces and an editor to put it all together in the end. The first volume is here to give you an idea: https://librivox.org/js-bach-volume-1-by-albert-schweitzer/

I have pulled the second volume out for you here: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=66869
let me know if you want to proceed.

As for the short works, they are, well, in the short works forum: viewforum.php?f=19

I requested that the Bach be restored and, having looked at it, can't take it on now. FYI, it requires not only instrumental excerpts (which I can handle) but vocal excerpts of all 4 voices (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass) and don't have anyone to record those (and I definitely should not be!).

It IS a difficult project.

Let's wait what Ligeti Grieg has to say about it before I put it back into the mothballs...

A second (well, I suppose technically now it will be first) version of this is being recorded. When it is cataloged, I will mark the one in the first post as second version then.

Yes, the version is based on cataloguing date , not starting date.
