More Recent Sci Fi : Update

Between 2006 and 2010 a thread called "More Recent Science Fiction" ran in this Book Suggestions forum, eventually adding up to 11 pages. Lots of SF books mentioned, some as PG releases and some found elsewhere, many as they first were posted to Project Gutenberg. Quite a few have since been recorded. I thought it might be helpful to go back through that thread and pull out the suggested or mentioned books that have not yet been recorded, so they would be all together in one place for convenient reference if anyone is looking for an overlooked science fiction work to record.

Props to the amazing GreggMargarite / gweeks for all the work done in the original thread, and for the many recordings of classic SF he left to us.

So, of the books and stories mentioned in that thread, the following have not yet been recorded for Librivox:

Lots of treasure to dig for here! Also, everyone is welcome to make another recording of any book or short story, and many MANY of the short stories mentioned in the original thread have been recorded just once in the Short SF collections, most between 2006-2009 so it's been at least 10 years -- more than time for another rendition to be welcome!

If you want to dig further in the original thread, it's here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3984

Hi Team,

I'll adopt "Cubs of the Wolf" by Raymond F. Jones.

I looks simple enough, so I think I can do it solo. I'll set it up in the launchpad in a few minutes.

Thanks,
Zac

THANK YOU GREG!! I love Brackett and just finished recording one of her stories that you produced. I plan to record them all if possible. The work you do is wonderful and much appreciated. Image

EDIT: I just adopted Ministry of Disturbance by Piper. Gee, life is great!

Hi Alev. I see that you have done your 1 minute test. that is a great start. To 'adopt' a book or story you must post it in as a new project the New Project Launchpad viewforum.php?f=28 . If you need any help, just ask. You can of course say that you intend to adopt a story in this thread but it doesn't happen until you put it into the Launchpad, Here is a little video on our process http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOqI_Orr4SU

Hello! Not sure if this is an "update as we go" kind of thread, but just in case - I adopted Will Mohler's "In the Control Tower" for the most recent Short SciFi Collection (#70), which is now complete and catalogued :)

Thanks Phil!

I'd like to claim The Last Place on Earth by Jim Harmon. I want to do 4 or 5 more of his stories along with this one as a short story collection.

Check at gutenberg also. There may be more of them there than are listed in this thread.

Yes, this thread is by no means a be-all-end-all of available SF. There was a several years old thread on the Suggestions Board with a bunch of then-recently released SF stories that had been updated periodically for a while and then hadn't been. Some stories had been recorded, some hadn't. So I consolidated the ones that had not and started this thread to give them a boost -- but there are always tons of stories floating around PG and more released every week so be sure to have a dig around there as well.

And thanks for jumping in!
