Romance of the Three Kingdoms is one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature and one of the most read. Over a thousand pages long and with a cast of hundreds, it covers the turbulent period of the Three Kingdoms at the end of the Han Dynasty, broadly focusing on the struggles between the three main power blocs. Nicole, I don't see how we can use this text source. It's not a 1925 edition (or a direct reprint from one), but a new edition rendered with modern illustrations and such. There's no way to tell if the text has been changed from the 1925 translation.

How about this one? It seems to be pretty no-frills. Still the Brewitt-Taylor version, but not modernised (using Wade-Giles) and no illustrations.

Same problem as before since there is no copyright in the text. Also it has maps and other things right in front and according to wikipedia:

A complete and faithful translation of the novel was published in two volumes in 1925 by Charles Henry Brewitt-Taylor, a long time official of the Chinese Maritime Customs Service.[7] The translation was well written, but lacked any supplementary materials such as maps or character lists that would aid Western readers; a 1959 reprint was published that included maps and an introduction by Roy Andrew Miller to assist foreign readers.

So this is probably from 1959; and we don't accept reprints.

Finally, it says "collection opensource" and it was uploaded already back in 2018, so this is very fishy.

Update: it looks like Volume 2 is available on HathiTrust, but not Volume 1. I'm sure the latter will be digitized eventually though. Also, it looks like the 1925 version has a slightly different title:
