Hi everyone, My name is Sheila Clark.
I have started reading this children's book, Sowing Seeds in Danny, in hopes of bringing some cheer to the old folks that can't visit with anyone during this coronovirus pandemic. This book might have been read to them as a child and I think with age and failing eye sight it might make them happy to hear it again. Sowing Seeds in Danny is set in
southwest Manitoba, in a town called Millford. I live just north of Millford, though the town doesn't exist anymore. The cemetery is still there, that is where I can find my Clark grandparents. I like reading this book of rural prairie life back in the old days of early 1900's, life when horses and small farms were all over the prairies. I have already recorded sixteen chapters, half the book, on my ipad. I will now go back and add the required information. I put each chapter on a separate file. I try to be expressive when I read, but to be honest some words are hard to say and I am sure I would never guess at the way people spoke back then, but I just try to do my best and hope no one laughs so hard that they hurt themselves.

Hi everyone, My name is Sheila Clark.
Hi, Sheila, and welcome! Thanks for your enthusiasm! It sounds like a charming book. There are a few things we'll need to double check on before you can begin uploading what you have.

The first thing we'll need to do is check that your files have the right technical settings. Please upload one of the files you have (the shortest one, please, or even just a part of it) and post it in Listeners Wanted as your test. This page explains about the upload process and where and how to post the link: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=1-Minute_Test

Next, we'll need to double check that the source you're using is very clearly public domain. Sometimes newer editions of old books have their own copyright, so we can't use them. Are you reading from a physical copy that you have, or from a digital copy online somewhere? If it's online, just post the link here. If it's a physical book, we'll need you to upload a picture or scan of the title page with the publishing date visible. :)

Then, you'll need to follow the directions here for how to start a solo recording: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=13513

In the meantime, while you're getting those things sorted, I'll move this thread to the Book Suggestions forum to keep the Launch Pad tidy. Good luck, and welcome again! :D

There is an etext here http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/4376 which may help.
But please do upload less than 1 minute of your recording as test file so we can check that the technical specifications are OK before recording more.

Anne
