Plain Mary Smith: A Romance of Red Saunders by Henry Wallace Phillips (1869 - 1930).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/plain-mary-smith-by-henry-wallace-phillips/
More than anything, the young Red Saunders wanted to be a good boy. And he was a good boy, except for his quick temper and quicker fists. By the time he was 16 he knew he had to leave home, leave town, leave the life he knew. And that’s when life became really interesting, really challenging, and really worth living. ( Tom Penn)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/35787
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi Tom,

Chapter 1 is PL OK!

Great chapter! I really enjoyed this author's sense of humor, and you captured it quite well.

Thanks! I have enjoyed recording it. My sense of humor is somewhat similar so it has been a lot of fun.

Chapter 2 is PL OK! :)

FYI: I noticed that the author portion of the filename contained only one "l," i.e. philips instead of phillips. I think the MC can fix that without needing a reload.

Fixed! Thanks for spotting that. Those "l" and "i" characters drive me crazy.
