Hello there. I'd like to claim section 23, "Mechanics of Liason"
You're entered for section 23. Note that you're STARTING with the heading, "Mechanics of Liason", but reading all the way to the end of the chapter. :)

Section 11:

Volume at 97 dB; needs to come down about 8 dB.

There is a lot of screeching (high pitched whistles and tones) in the recording. Try a notch filter at 5475, Q=4, and another one at 989.

3:27-4:02 - Please move Figure 17 caption to the end of the text, as instructed in the first post.

19:58 - There's a cut off "Num-" then "Number one".

From about 22:00 to 25:07 is a frequently occurring sound in the recording which is distracting.

25:10-25:30 - a loud screeching sound in the vocals that the two notch filters I mentioned don't fix. I stopped listening here because it was too distracting.

Would you please go through this recording, listening to it, and make the necessary sound edits? It might need re-recording in spots.

If you're actually recording at this high volume, it might be causing some of your problems. Lower the microphone input level. If you're somehow raising the volume to this level, then that won't be the cause of the noises.

Section 25 -

2:00 - "may lie in neither vic nor defeat" - "Victory" is cut off here. :)

The parts about Vietnam were interesting, seeing that they were written before the US got involved.

Question on footnotes.

If we do find a footnote to be interesting rather than just bibliographic and want to add it, do we include the number of the footnote even if others have been skipped?

For example I think the footnote 55 is interesting but the next interesting one is 58. Would it be odd to include the numbers if I am skipping some in the middle?

would I read it

"Footnote 58: The author had the opportunity of observing opsearch in the Korean war..."
or
"Footnote: The author had the opportunity of observing opsearch in the Korean war..."

Please don't take my word for it if TriciaG has a different opinion, but - I have been leaving out the numbers (so, just "Footnote. (text of footnote) End of footnote.") as I haven't seen any reason that they would be of any help to a listener. The figure numbers do matter because they are sometimes referenced elsewhere in the text ("As you saw in Figure 4..."), but there aren't any such references to footnote numbers anywhere in the book except within another footnote (and that one, footnote 23, is just a minor bibliographic one).

Yes, I agree - leave out the footnote number. Just do "footnote" ... "End of footnote". :)
