Hi, I’m Aye Chan, and I’m new here!

Welcome to LibriVox!! We'll need you to fix the file name, but let me prooflisten first to see if there's anything else that needs editing before you both with that. :)

Hi, if the 12th spot is still available,
may I read Olafs Farm from Viking Tales by Jennie Hall which I found on gutenberg.org?

Best Wishes, Hopeforce1.
Yes! That would be great. :)

Hello! I want to let you three know that these stories will be the last three stories in Collection 8. I'm having trouble with my mouse refusing to work right now, which makes it super tricky to fill in the MW for these. I'll be working on entering info and getting the prooflistening done ASAP.

ALL SUBSEQUENT CONTRIBUTORS:

As soon as I'm able to, we'll get Collection 9 set up for the next stories that people want to do. Please hold your recording until that is open, and name your file with 009 for that portion. :)

Hi, Aye Chan!

I am always happy to see new volunteers for LibriVox. :)

I've entered your file and the data into the Magic Window for this collection, but it won't let me officially assign the section to you until we have your Reader Catalog Page set up.

What name would you like us to use on that? This is the Catalog page the public will see when they are looking at the audiobooks and readers. Some of us use our real name, some use our forum name (the one you've posted under), and some folks make up another penname.

We can also put a personal URL on your page if you have your own web site that you would like to be included there.

As soon as I know what name you want us to use, I'll get your Reader Page made and get the section officially assigned. :)

Hi Hopeforce! Go right ahead and record this and submit it. :)

I'll hold section 12 until the 26th. (We do collections a little differently from "normal" group audiobooks, and don't normally reserved sections, but we're at the tail end of this collection. If you need more time, that's fine - we'll just use it in Collection 9, but that would mean a different file name, so let me know what works for you.) 8-)

Great reading, and an interesting story! (I wonder how many homes that are hung for Nats get birds?)

I do have a two-part PL NOTE for you:

1) This file is in stereo, and they have to be mono for LibriVox. Easy to fix, though!
2) Let's fix the file name while we're fixing the technical specs

If you happen to be using Audacity, this is super easy.

Open the main file.

In the drop-down menu for Tracks, select "Mix," and choose "Mix Stereo Down to Mono"

Now you can export the edited file again.

While you're doing that, change the file name. It should read: mlaw009_womanmannat_mimosa_acm_128kb

(If you're not using Audacity, perhaps you can find a similar setting that makes your recording mono. Let me know if you're stumped in that case.)

And then re-upload the same way you did the first time, and post a note here that it's been done.

And a side note: :)

Here is your personal Reader Page: Aye Chan May.

You'll see that it lists all the projects you are a part of, both complete and in-progress. It also has a link to the lists of all the sections that are assigned to you for recording and/or prooflistening. Very handy!

Nicely done! No edits are needed on the reading. When I run the rile through Checker it does come up a little bit too loud. Are you up for doing that edit? If you're using Audacity, it's really easy:
  • Open the recording
  • Click Control-A to select the entire track
  • From the Effects drop-down menu, select Amplify
  • Type -1 in the top box (ignore everything else) (the minus will make it softer, even though we're using "Amplify")
  • Click OK
Now you can re-export the file to mp3 and upload the new file the same way you did the first time. Don't forget to post again. :)

(If you haven't already done so, you might want to bump the recording volume down just a little for your next file.)
