Our instructions mention the .5 - 1 minute opening silence.
You did pronounce err correctly.

, just a couple of items to point out...
- the volume is low at 83.6 dB, you should aim for your waveforms to peak near the 0.5 mark, like this:

You can check your volume using our Checker program - see info at http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Checker You will find the volume in decibels on the Information tab. For your information, we look for around 89 dB (87-91 is OK) (all the other tech specs are there also)
- the filename needs to be all lowercase
- please include the file duration with your upload link

good first reading, but there a couple of comments...
- the specs are good, but the volume is a little low at 83 dB, you should aim for your waveforms to peak near the 0.5 mark, like this:

- the are 'bumping' sounds throughout the recording, are you using a headset mic?
- there is a 2 second gap at 0:30 with the bump sounds, as well as some 'bumps' and a buzz in the ending silence. Stuff like this can be dealt with when you review your reading before uploading, all part of the process

A lot to learn, I know, but soon you will be an expert.
