Could I ask for TriciaG's advice, please, on how to handle the footnote in section 9? I note that the guidance at https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/English_Pronunciation_Guides leaves the book co-ordinator (or reader) a fair amount of discretion here.

My own suggestion would be to read the passage in question thus:

Flushed with that fancied discovery, Uncle Jack rushed on, intending to bear along with the stream, thus fortunately directed, all the “rubbish” subsequently shot into Covent Garden and Hall of Commerce. Footnote: “We talked sad rubbish when we first began,” says Mr. Cobden, in one of his speeches. End footnote.

I have no knowledge of how often this question is likely to arise in this novel as a whole.

Submitted section entered into the MW, new claims entered. :)

Hmm. I'm wondering if that footnote is needed. I suppose calling the discussion/subject "rubbish" needs some explanation? But even the explanation doesn't make much sense to us of the 21st century. :hmm:

Putting it where you suggest works well, IMO. Go for it. :)

Section 8 - nicely read!

About 3 seconds of silence at the start; please cut down to 0.5-1 second

The first half or so would benefit from some noise reduction, as it has a low-toned growl to it. :)

Thank you! All valuable learning for me.

Have trimmed beginning of section 8 and applied noise reduction. Latest uploaded version is https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/caxtons_8_bulwer-lytton_128kb.mp3 (21:02)

Have uploaded section 10:

Have read your (generous) comment elsewhere re my proposed solo project, for which, thank you! :D I'm aware, though, that I'm still learning a lot through this mini-apprenticeship on The Caxtons which you encouraged me to undertake, and I'm quite enjoying the Sterne-like oddity of the novel, too, even if it does seem a bit "wet" at times to modern tastes. Can I claim all of Part Three? That will help me develop my stamina a little further before I start on the more challenging solo project.
