Hi Dave, welcome to LibriVox! Thanks for uploading your test. The sound is nice and clear and volume is good. There's just one technical setting to tweak.

This recording is in Stereo, and it should be in Mono. To get to Mono sound is fairly simple. You should see a toolbar in your Audacity window with your mic listed. Next to it, there is a drop down menu that gives you the options of 1 (Mono) or 2 (Stereo). In that box, choose 1 (Mono). If you don't see that toolbar, you can do the same thing by going to Edit>Preferences, clicking on Devices on the left side, and then for Channels, select 1 (Mono). This will change all future recordings to Mono.

So follow those steps, then record a new test. Upload it and post it here in the same thread for a final check. You'll be recording for real in no time!
