hi,
A Casket of Cameos is part 3 (not grouped) of a 5 volume series "texts that made history" by boreham
part 1 and 2 should be:
https://librivox.org/a-bunch-of-everlastings-or-texts-that-made-history-by-frank-w-boreham/
https://librivox.org/a-handful-of-stars-by-frank-w-boreham/
the cover pics are similar enough to make the series, credentials: Esther ben Simonides and Annise
..wanted to suggest to follow the series, whoever finds a pic that fits
cheers,
wolfi

I've claimed the Chesterton but the other is a cover from 2014 - I don't have the layers anymore and I think I was still using photoshop then and I would have to start from scratch so I think I'll leave it for someone else at the moment

I did my best. I can't match the fonts, but I did match the background picture of one of them and the general style. Thanks for the hint about it being a series - that helps with cover ideas.schrm wrote: ↑November 5th, 2020, 2:58 amhi,

Not sure I understand what "other" you mean, but if you are looking for the source for this cover photo, here it is
http://www.gutenberg.org/files/58032/58032-h/58032-h.htm
It would be no problem to create a series cover from this. Alas, I already have claimed 2.

I just had a slap-the-forehead moment.
Somewhere to look for PD images? Archive!
I went to archive.org, clicked the images icon (that row of icons right above the search box), then put in the keyword I was looking for in the box on the left, under "search this collection." I found a great Saturday Evening Post cover for the immigration project!
Granted, one still has to determine if the image is PD, but it's one more possible source.

I never thought of doing that
I suppose we would still need to check they wer public domain. I tried it out with purgatory and there were many - I was fascinated and tempted by this one
https://archive.org/details/12.ClaudiaRoggePurgatoryII2011Diasec168X215Cm.OperaNonEsposta but I'd already almost finished with another; 15C image
Anne
added- clicking on the arrows gave me a heap of other of her images - fascinating but surely she has not given up any rights ??

Nice job, Michele. It fits the mood of The Cruise of the Falcon perfectly.

Glad you liked it, Steven. The book was a wonderful travelogue to listen to. Alas, this link is to the cover I didn't get to use, featuring my own watercolor painting of my Dad's sailboat. Turns out the tropical artwork I framed it with, which I thought was PD on Pixabay when I found it, had been converted to restricted use by publication time. I was so disappointed.Steven Seitel wrote: ↑November 12th, 2020, 12:55 pmWow! Another superb cover from that CD case artist, msFry!![]()

Hey, I didn't reject it, Michele noticed. Just fyi , if we use a non PD image and anyone complains, your whole project is likely to be taken down by Archive. Do you think that the risk is worth taking?
