If this is the same, I need your help in finding how to do this correctly. I went to effects/amplify/-5db or as you suggested. There was a visible difference in the track. Then I saved, supposedly overwriting the file of the same name. If there is a different process that will do what I need it to. Thanks.
Joan
It's still 94.6dB.
Open the file. Highlight the audio. Effect>Amplify>-5>OK. Visible difference in the track. That all seems to be fine. Your word choice 'saved' concerned me.
File>Export>Export as MP3>Choose the file location>Save. You should see a pop up as the program is doing it's thing.
This appears to be fine according to Checker.

File length.....36:26.40

Spot check PL OK! Be sure not to go any lower. 86dB is our lower range cut off.
How is chapter 3 coming along? Your claim is about 3.5 months old. Please let me know if you want to continue or give it back.

Hi Linny,
I have Chapter 3 recorded, but now checker says the db are too low..81.5
I've looked at the wikis and videos that Phil did, and it seems as though I should be able to go to Effects/Amplify and type in +6 and it should be amplified. However, when I do that (with the track selected) the OK button does not become available. Help?
Three options: Re-record the chapter; fix it; or find someone else.
I'm open to any of the three:)

Pardon me for butting in, but there is an easier way. Select All. Then look to the left under the word Mute. Drag the slider right to +9 (in this case) and then export. When you run it though the checker, is should be ok now.

Joan,
The reason you likely ran into an issue was because you need to do a little compression before you can amplify more. Likely you have a spike or too which is making it impossible to do a straight amplification. Check this video out and let me know...
