Huge sigh of relief. This caused me to reproof our section 21 from realisticspeakers and be pulling my hair over why it was already marked pl ok and had a different duration.KevinS wrote: ↑August 7th, 2020, 11:24 amMurphy8104 wrote: ↑August 7th, 2020, 9:42 amHello -
I've just uploaded Section 21 - - Chapter VI Part 2. The link is:
https://librivox.org/uploads/leni/cambridgemodernhistory1_21_128kb.mp3
Duration is 31:18 / db = 91.7
Please let me know how it sounds, and of any edits.
I'll get rolling on Sec 27 once I hear.
Thanks!
Lisa
Lisa, I think you have posted in the wrong thread.

Sorry for the confusion I caused by posting Section 21 in the Cambridge/Medieval instead of Cambridge Modern.

Hahah! If you saw my home life, you'd ask what century I belong to. I'm always a little confused in answering.Murphy8104 wrote: ↑August 10th, 2020, 8:00 amSorry for the confusion I caused by posting Section 21 in the Cambridge/Medieval instead of Cambridge Modern.![]()

Kazbek,
The reading of the text of section 68 is PL OK, but the intro is missing the chapter number and title (and part number if the chapter is divided into parts for recording). Noticing that those were missing on this file caused me to wonder if I had failed to notice their absence in sections 64, 65, and 66. Upon checking their intros, I found that you do have the chapter titles in them, but not the chapter numbers. It would be helpful to listeners who wish to consult the text if you would insert the Chapter numbers (and part numbers if applicable) before the chapter titles in those files.
Thank you for the excellent readings of so many sections.

That's because Kevin asked me to edit out the chapter numbers last time around.pattymarie wrote: ↑August 16th, 2020, 2:27 amKazbek,

Oh dear, I got so used to hearing most (though some spot checking has revealed not all) readers use the chapter numbers that I came to think they were supposed to be there. I think they're important. For example, if a listener doesn't quite understand something as pronounced by the reader or wants to read a complicated passage or wants to cite a passage in an academic paper, having the chapter number makes locating the word(s) or passage quicker, especially in such a long table of contents with so much verbiage in it as there is in this one. The chapter numbers seem even more important for those sections consisting of second or third parts of a chapter for which the special instructions say not to read the chapter title. However, what Kevin says is what holds here. It's worth noting that he uses the chapter number himself in section 1 though he reads the chapter author's name before rather than after the chapter title as the instructions state and as seems more logical to me.Kazbek wrote: ↑August 16th, 2020, 7:06 amThat's because Kevin asked me to edit out the chapter numbers last time around.pattymarie wrote: ↑August 16th, 2020, 2:27 amKazbek,

I'm happy to change the intros, of course, but it sounds like you guys may want to confer among yourselves first.

Spot checking has revealed different readers doing the intro somewhat differently, but to my mind sections 35 through 37 provide the best models of complete and concise scholarly documentation in the most logical order. Those sections don't follow the instructions, though, with a second reading of the section number after the disclaimer. If that's insisted on, though I think it's redundant, I'll copy and paste it myself rather than bother the reader about it now. More strictly following the instructions, sections 17 through 21 are excellent models, in my judgement, too.
It's too late for me to go through them all tonight, but I'm going to check all the intros to make sure they all have at least all the info asked for in the instructions.
