England, My England by D. H. Lawrence (1885 - 1930).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/england-my-england-by-d-h-lawrence/
A book of ten short stories, written with Lawrence's typical sensibility to and awareness of social mores, set around the period of the First World War ( Anthony Ogus)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/8914
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

MW coming up.

edit: Let me know if any changes are needed. Do we need to advertise for a DPL?

Thanks, DC, for taking this project on board.

Format looks to be fine, though I may find that the individual stories are too long for a single section each.

Yes, please help find a DPL.

I just put a ~ before the title in the subject line of the first post. We can stay in the Launch Pad for a bit to see if someone offers.

Moving to Going Solo forum. It will be easier to find a DPL once you've recorded something.

Then I'll proceed to a recording of the first story. Probably it'll take me a week or two.

Have recorded and posted the first section of the first story. Hopefully we can now get hold of a DPL>

I now think that I will need about 20 (rather than 10) sections to accommodate the recordings. Do you want to change the formate, or shall I?

Don't forget to add the titles to the MW. The DPL will need them.

Section 2 posted.

No sign of a DPL; what do we do now do to get one?

The filenames are incorrect. They should have the following format:
englandmyengland_##_lawrence_128kb.mp3

where ## is the section number (e.g. englandmyengland_01_lawrence_128kb.mp3 for the first section).

I often PL projects until someone offers tp be the DPL. Our thread posts will keep us at the top of the page in the Going Solo forum making us more visible. After I proof these files you can re-upload them with the correct filenames and then change the links in the MW.

Anthony,
If you don't mind I've decided to be the DPL. I'm now listening to the first story and would enjoy listening to the others.

2 PL OK!

Just upload the files with the corrected filenames (see above post) and then change the links in the MW. Nice reads.

Thanks very much, Dave, for agreeing to be the PL. I'll correct the filenames and get the sections reposted.
