This is my first recording I did this on audacity with a windows laptop and I don't know what mic it is because I used the one the laptop came with. I have usb microphone coming in the mail though. I will probably do another one of these then, but I want to see if I did everything else right.

Hi Natalie! You have done well for a first attempt: you speak clearly and sound good. :thumbs: You are correct to say that in general laptop mics should be avoided. But yours is good enough for now until your usb one arrives.
You should download the Checker tool from: https://cgjennings.ca/projects/checker/
In Checker you will see that your volume is 84 dB. LibriVox needs a range of 86-92 dB so you need to increase the volume a little. In Audacity:

is a good article that shows 3 ways. Most people will use Amplify [the third way].

Please do the above with the volume and upload the link again and post the link below.
