Phil, I am new here. I love your videos, they are very useful but I have a problem that I cannot solve. I asked in another site but could not understand the answer. I recorded a file and I got the correct wavelength but there is no sound from my speakers. I recorded a file last week and had no problems but now I can't get sound from that file either. I uninstalled audacity and reinstalled in case I pushed a button or arrow that I shouldn't have. No luck, the same issue. Please, I need help. Thank you

Hang in there Rose and thank you for liking my videos.
1) if you got the correct wavelength, then you are seeing a wave in the Audacity screen, right? That is helpful because it means the problem is not the microphone or the audacity recording software, that is great!!! (by a waveform I mean one that looks like those in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9WF82rf81o.

2) It means the problems is just in the audio coming out or perhaps in your headphones or speakers.

3) Try opening another audio file with audacity and see if you can hear it. You can get this from LibriVox or any where.

Let's start there. Try that and let me know what happens. :D We will take it one step at a time to get you rolling.

Hi Phil, thank you for your kindness and help. Somehow I had changed the speaker source and when I fixed that, voila!, sound again. It is all so intimidating at first but you are all so kind to neophytes like me. I have finished my first recording and it feels great, Now if I just pass the PL. Thank you again

Hey there, after the Librivox beginners session on Zoom, I thought it might be fun to put together a little Librivox video tutorial for new members. (After making it, I realized that Phil has quite a comprehensive collection of video content already, but I figure I might throw my hat into the ring anyway. :) ) Cheers!

Yes, yes, yes! Excellent video Andy. I will add this to the listing of LibriVox videos. Your approach is nice, very straightforward and calm and your graphics are right on. Please make more. Many of my videos are old and creaky and need to be redone; please if you have any spare time, see what you think about redoing some so they are more up to date. Again, great video and I hope you make a lot more!! Have you thought about perhaps taking some of your points like downloading Audacity or recording a poem and doing a 'let's walk through' video? to show each step in the process?

Andy, are you thinking of doing any more videos for LV? I am in the process of cleaning up my old and outdated ones, and was reminded of how well you did this one. :D

Thanks as always for the kind words! I'm currently spending most of my time studying so I have had to take a break from other endeavors, but... I did make one on replay gain, and getting a good volume for a recording: https://youtu.be/qQmtHASkyD4 :)

Happy July 4th (to all it may concern). I have updated the video on HITTING 89 DECIBELS - EASY PEASY because Audacity's update of 3.2.4 moved things around a bit. Here it ishttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCg82GZ8Dap4MDbXpYuF06qA

So my first time here.

1. I have my corrections, but not sure how to fix them. I can fix them and not re-upload them thru uploader? Just fix them and reply?

I guess I will repost in the thread I am working on with corrections?

You'll need to make the corrections within Audacity first, which I infer/assume from your message you're able to do. If you have trouble on that, you can ask, and there are also videos linked above for just about any correction you'd need to make.

Next, export the audio as an MP3 file with the same name, and all the same export settings.

Then you will need to send that new/updated MP3 file through the uploader - it's not enough to fix the file on your computer, it has to make it to us!

Finally, you're right: after you've uploaded the new version, you'll need to post back in the thread to say that you've done so. Please also include the length of the new file - among other things, this makes it easier for us to tell the old version from the new one.
